Using giclee, dye-sublimation printing, these aluminum metal prints reflect the vibrancy and vividness of the landscape. Thanks to their protective polymer coating, they are durable, scratch-resistant, and water-resistant. The back has an inset frame with a wire for ease of hanging.
THE STORY
The hike up Mount Saint Vrain began in a fog so dense we could barely see past our boots, but the trailside wildflowers kept us motivated all the way up. When we reached the summit, dark clouds moved in with classic Colorado speed. We turned around and started hustling down just as the skies opened up with hail and lightning.
As we sprinted toward the treeline, the hail softened and the fog lifted, revealing a breathtaking view of alpine flowers framed against distant peaks. I stopped dead in my tracks to grab my camera. My husband didn't break stride: "I'm taller than anything else out here—I'll see you at the treeline!" I snapped the shot, caught up with him, and we made it down safely. By the time we reached the trailhead, the skies were so clear you'd never guess we had just outrun a lightning storm. This photo is a reminder that in the mountains, the most dramatic light usually waits on the other side of the storm.
