Every summer bright poppies provide a pop of color in the meadow at Boulder's Chautauqua Flatirons. In Boulder's early days, a farmer had a field full of poppies on the hill below the Flatirons. Although these are not native flowers, I delight in seeing their cherry color popping up in the early summer.
Painted in bold, expressive brushwork with rich palette knife texture, Flatirons Poppies II captures the joyful energy of those brilliant red blooms dancing across the rolling green hillside, with Boulder's iconic Flatirons rising in the background beneath a sweeping Colorado sky.
This lovely piece would look great in a living room, entryway, or any space that calls for a burst of color and a connection to the natural beauty of the Colorado Front Range.
