Acrylic on wood gallery panel

Hector stands with the quiet authority of an animal that has outlasted blizzards and witnessed centuries, his gaze steady and knowing. He is the senior bison of the Herd, and he doesn't need anyone to tell him what's going on. He already knows: who wandered off, who's about to stir up trouble, which way the weather is turning.

Every herd needs its elder, and Hector is the Wild Beasts' wise sage, something like a grandfather to the rest. He's indulgent when the young ones kick up their heels, but firm when it counts, and one look from him settles most arguments. Blaze may be the spark and Ember the glow, but Hector is the one who has seen the whole fire.

Built from rivers of color (crimson, teal, violet, gold), his coat becomes a landscape unto itself, a testament to the wild complexity beneath a still exterior. This original acrylic painting on panel captures the American bison not as symbol, but as individual: ancient, unhurried, and entirely himself. Thick impasto strokes give Hector a physical presence that photographs can barely contain.

He's perfect for a statement wall in a living room, lodge, or mountain home, anywhere that calls for something with weight and soul. Hang him where the room gathers, and he'll bring a sense of steadiness and wisdom to everything beneath him.
