Late October on Crosier Mountain, just outside Rocky Mountain National Park above Glen Haven — the aspen have gone gold, the meadow floor burns amber, and two cows graze at the base of the white trunks with the particular contentment of animals who have found exactly the right place to be. The forest behind them is deep and dark and almost winter, but down here in the grove the light is warm and the grass is still good and there is absolutely no reason to be anywhere else.
This painting began as a hike and became something quieter — a celebration of the ordinary pastoral miracle of a golden Colorado October, when the whole high country turns to light and even the cattle seem to know it.
Perfect for a kitchen, a living room, or any space that calls for something warm, unhurried, and deeply Colorado. The kind of painting that makes you breathe a little slower.
